On-device dictation for Mac

Say it. Adiflow types what you meant.

Hold Right ⌥, speak, let go. The ums, the stutters and the “no, wait” are gone, and clean text appears wherever your cursor is. Everything runs on your Mac.

When can we send the deck to the client?

Message #launch-planning

Three steps, and you already know two of them.

No app to switch to, no window to open. Adiflow waits in your menu bar.

  1. Right ⌥

    Hold the key

In any app, any text field. A small glass pill appears at the bottom of your screen and starts listening.

  2. Talk like you talk

Pause, restart, change your mind mid-sentence. Speak the way you would to a colleague.

  3. Let go

About a second later, clean, punctuated text is typed where your cursor was.

Want to keep talking without holding a key? Double-tap Right ⌥ to go hands-free, and tap once more to finish. Esc cancels.

It writes what you meant, not what you said.

Apple Intelligence tidies every dictation on your Mac before it’s typed.

What you said

um so I think we should meet on tuesday, no wait, let’s do friday at three. uh can you send the agenda to the the team?

What Adiflow typed

I think we should meet on Friday at 3. Can you send the agenda to the team?

Works in every app

Slack, Mail, Notes, your code editor, a browser form. If it takes typing, it takes Adiflow.

Fixes the stumbles

Filler words, repeated words and self-corrections are removed. Punctuation and capitals are added. Your wording stays yours.

Gets technical terms right

Say “use effect in app dot tsx” and get useEffect in app.tsx. Say “new paragraph” and get one.

Fast

Speech is recognized while you talk, so most dictations land about a second after you let go.

Keeps a history

Every dictation is saved on your Mac, searchable, with a copy button. A missed paste is never lost.

Plays well with headphones

AirPods or a Bluetooth headset connected? Adiflow uses your Mac’s microphone so your music doesn’t drop to call quality.

Teach it your words.

Names, product names, the jargon your team uses. Add a word once, or tell Adiflow what it keeps mishearing, and it gets it right from then on.

  • Words are passed to the recognizer before it listens, so it leans toward them.
  • Afterwards, every entry is enforced, including joined-up forms like “CloudCode” and “Cloud-Code”.
  • Matches whole words only. A fix for “Claude Code” never touches “Cloudflare”.
  • Warns you before you add an entry that would rewrite ordinary speech.

Your voice never leaves your Mac.

Speech recognition uses Apple’s on-device speech engine. Cleanup uses Apple Intelligence on your Mac. There’s no account, no server and no analytics.

Get Adiflow

Version 0.3.0 · for macOS 26 on Apple silicon

Download for Mac
First time opening Adiflow
  1. Unzip the download and drag Adiflow to your Applications folder.
  2. Open it. macOS will say it can’t verify the developer, because this early build isn’t notarized by Apple yet.
  3. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to Adiflow.
  4. Allow Microphone and Accessibility when Adiflow asks. Accessibility lets it notice the hotkey and type for you.

Questions

Which apps does it work in?

Any app where you can type: chat, email, documents, browsers, code editors and terminals. Adiflow pastes the text into whatever field has focus, then puts your clipboard back the way it was.

Does it need the internet?

Only the first time, to download Apple’s speech model for your language. After that, dictation works with no connection at all.

What if my Mac doesn’t have Apple Intelligence?

Adiflow still works. It switches to basic cleanup, which removes filler words and repeated words and fixes capitalization, but doesn’t rewrite self-corrections.

Can I change the key?

Yes. In Settings you can use fn (Globe), Right Option, Right Command or Right Control.

Why does it need Accessibility access?

macOS requires it for two things Adiflow does: noticing when you hold the hotkey while another app is in front, and typing the text into that app.

Where is my data stored?

In ~/Library/Application Support/Adiflow on your Mac. Your dictionary is a plain text file there, so you can edit it in any text editor.
